Homemade healing

There have been and likely will be many articles written about the observation of health benefits related to consuming turmeric. I like to use it in cooking  and had just picked up a fresh jar of dry turmeric when my sweetheart took a tumble out on the icy driveway. I decided this was a great time to welcome any help for inflammation and the result was a jar full of turmeric drops in the freezer.

Once again, no absolutes to this recipe. I didn’t measure a thing.

I cracked around 10 black peppercorns and put them in a small but heavy saucepan on low heat.

I added about a tablespoon of dry turmeric and roughly 2 tablespoon of coconut oil, stirring occasionally as the oil melted.

Once nicely warmed, I removed the pan from the heat and stirred in a tablespoon of honey and coconut flour, each.

I refrigerated the mix until it firmed up, stirred well, and then dropped by the small spoonful onto wax paper on a plate.

After hardening in the fridge for a couple hours I put them in a jar in the freezer.

The smaller they are, the easier they are to swallow. My sweetheart likes to eat them like candy and there have been requests for chocolate covered turmeric drops already. Why not!

Oh! I tried a ginger honey concoction of raw honey, ginger, lemon zest, and turmeric. I’m not sure if it helped me feel good but it was delicious! Also I got organic turmeric, there really is a difference, I never would have known because I always get turmeric from Indian stores but I guess they’re processed 😕

I was pretty excited to find organic turmeric at my small-town grocery store. I had recently read that this particular brand is transitioning to 100% organic. I’ll have to use some ginger next time, that sounds great!
